Mobile plans for connection and mobile internet in Mexico are expensive. The most convenient of all mobile operators is Telcel, and it is a monopolist with many offices and 4G coverage in most regions.
There are 3 mobile phone networks in Mexico:
Telcel is the leader in the sector, with 73 million subscribers (65 of the local market). These prepaid packages are called Amigo. Key indicators show it has the best experience in 2G, 3G, and 4G / LTE networks. About 75% of users prefer 4G / LTE with a download speed of 26 Mbs.
Although it doesn't have the same coverage as Telecel or AT&T, it offers cheaper tariffs for local and international calls. Its share is 22%. Movistar expanded its 4G / LTE network to 23 new states and 500 destinations, opening 1,700 new VTS stations.
It owns only 11% of the market. AT&T Sim cards are available in many stores. The Elektra, Coppel, Famsa, Walmart, and Bodega Aurrera stores are primarily free with mandatory replenishment in other places – for MXN 100 or 200 with the Mas tariff plan included.
The country also supports many mobile phone providers, such as Virgin Mobile, Cierto, week, Aló, Flash Mobile, and Oui Movil. These virtual carriers don’t play an insignificant role in the mobile communications market in Mexico, occupying only 1.5% of the market. However, this is still a tiny number, and they are trying to expand the coverage.
